While the modern scene has become diluted with sanitized tracks and DJ-influencers, SAD PROM is taking Techno back to its Detroit roots. Raw, analog machine music to move bodies and awaken minds from their smartphone-induced coma. In November 2024, SAD PROM self-releases SP001, making it available on Bandcamp only. A 5-track EP that in the artist’s own words «sounds like your parents’ landline ringing at 3am, your Tamagotchi crying to be fed while you’re coming up in the middle of the party.» The debut release quickly draws the attention of the international underground dance music scene, with the A2 track Slave To The Algorithm being premiered by HÖR Berlin resident DJ The Brvtalist.

SAD PROM’s unique brand of machine funk and countercultural aesthetic doesn’t go unnoticed by Dutch producer Drvg Cvltvr, who in February 2025 signs the artist's next release to his label New York Haunted. SAD PROM's sophomore EP First Design A Kick is a dystopian, hard hitting 4-tracker, almost entirely produced on an over saturated Roland TR-808. «Pure overdriven hard distorted techno music […] much in the vein of [Ritchie Hawtin’s] Circuit Breaker's Trac-X.»

Following this first label release are double-single Phormat 77 / Miss Italia Techno Party and the mixtape Live At Silencio, a recording of SAD PROM's live hardware set at David Lynch's club in Paris. The artist has just announced a new 6-track EP to come out soon on Diffuse Reality.
